In Memory of Sidney Gray

Over 50 years ago Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed December 7th, 1941 as a day that will live in infamy.

The triple community can now add to that infamy the loss of one of our own, Sid Gray, who lost his battle with cancer on December 7th , 1999.

While the attack on Pearl Harbor changed the course of world events the passing of Sid Gray is notable as he meant so much the the Y-triples community world wide.

Sid was a southern gentleman who had a contributed much to our shared interest in these old bikes.

His collection of parts has become legendary and I hope that the recipient of Sid's "parts shrine" will be as gracious.

I was fortunate enough to have met Sid during the first Y-triples rally in the valley at Shenandoah National Park.

The following pics are from the collections of Gary Coban and Charles Cotham.

I am sure the entire Y-triple community send their deepest condolences to Sid's partner, Lucy, his daughters Alisa, Judy, and Karen, and the rest of the Gray family.

And to Sid, where ever you are, ride tall and keep the shiny side up.

A memorial service was held for Sid on January 8, 2000 in Charlottesville, VA.

I was fortunate enough to attend and spent some time listening to, often humorous, anecdotes and remembrances of Sid.
